Plymouth Meeting, PA: January 7, 2010 – Health Advocate™, the nation’s leading independent health care advocacy and assistance company, announced today the addition of its newest medical director, Jocelyn Sivalingam, M.D., to its growing clinical staff. Dr. Sivalingam brings a wealth of clinical expertise to Health Advocate, having participated in a group practice with Bryn Mawr Medical Specialists from June 2006 until December 2009. Previously, she operated an infectious disease consultative practice at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital from 1992 through 2005.

As a member of the Health Advocate medical team, Dr. Sivalingam’s responsibilities include supporting the clinical needs of members and clients. Working with the company’s other physicians, nurses and benefits specialists she will help handle escalated cases, review Medical Policy Bulletins for appeals cases, review cases with nursing staff to determine next steps and necessary resources for positive medical options and performing outreach to medical institutions and clinical trial sites to determine appropriate resources available to a member, among others.
Dr. Sivalingam received her undergraduate degree cum laude in Biology from Franklin and Marshall College in 1982. She graduated from Jefferson Medical College in 1987 and completed her internal medicine residency in 1990 and infectious diseases fellowship in 1992, both at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. She is board certified in infectious diseases.
She has served on Hospital Infection Control committees at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Wills Eye Hospital, and Bryn Mawr Hospital, as well as the Medical Executive Committee and the Volunteer Faculty Board of Governors, both at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
A native of Baltimore, MD, Dr. Sivalingam now lives in Center City Philadelphia with her husband Glen, a nurse, and her four children.
