Elliot Justin, MD, founder of SwiftMD, was appointed to TeleHealth World Magazine’s editorial advisory board. TeleHealth World serves the rapidly expanding fields of telehealth, telemedicine, and connected health care. As a member of the board, Dr. Justin will play an active role in the contribution, discussion, and selection of relevant, emerging issues surrounding the telemedicine industry. As a board-certified emergency physician and current CEO of Pegasus Emergency Group, Dr. Justin has more than 30 years of experience in the field of emergency medicine.
Leslie Pecci was appointed senior vice president to oversee overall management including strategy development, client services, operations, and sales for ConnextionsHealth
, Connextions Inc.’s health care unit. Pecci brings more than 20 years of experience to her role, having served in numerous executive and senior management positions. She founded and served as the managing principal of Pecci LLC Consulting, where she assisted major health plans on change management, leadership development, contact center operations, talent management, and customer life cycle management. She worked for Convergys Corporation, MATRIXX Marketing, and AT&T Solutions Customer Care for 15 years.
Lonny Reisman, MD., was appointed chief medical officer of Aetna
and joined its management executive committee. Dr. Reisman is the CEO and co-founder of ActiveHealth Management, now an Aetna subsidiary. Reisman replaces Troyen A. Brennan, MD, who is leaving Aetna for CVS Caremark. Dr. Reisman has served as ActiveHealth Management’s CEO and as a director since October 1998. Prior to this, he was a principal in the Managed Care Group at William M. Mercer, an attending physician at New York Hospital and St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center, and a consultant on the corporate medical staff to Merrill Lynch. Dr. Reisman received undergraduate and graduate degrees from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and Tel Aviv University respectively.
John Varvaris joined Best Doctors Inc. as executive vice president and chief financial officer. Varvaris will direct the company’s international finance strategy and financial operations. Varvaris, who has nearly 3 decades of financial and business leadership experience, joins Best Doctors from SMART Business Advisory and Consulting LLC, where he was senior managing director and a leader in the firm’s largest industry pr acti ce, insurance. Varvaris has been an adjunct professor at Towson University and Loyola College of Maryland, teaching accounting and finance courses. Varvaris is a CPA and member of various industry and professional organizations, including AICPA and Financial Executives Institute.
